Intro to GUANGXI UNIVERSITY

Guangxi University is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, known as the "Green City of China". It is the only National "211 Project" Construction University in Guangxi, the "Double First Class" Construction University, and the University jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Guangxi University covers an area of over 21,400 acres and consists of 26 colleges. Currently, there are 25,091 full-time undergraduate students, 13,046 full-time graduate students, 2,118 part-time graduate students, 2758 international students and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan students, as well as 40449 continuing education students of all types. There are currently 3346 in-service teaching staff.

The university has 11 disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, humanities, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and arts. There are 66 undergraduate majors, 85 master's majors, and 22 doctoral majors. There are 1 "world-class" Construction Discipline, first-class Discipline Groups jointly constructed by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region , 2 National Key Disciplines, 1 National Key (cultivating) Discipline, 12 Guangxi First-class Disciplines, and 46 National First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Points. Among them, 7 disciplines, including engineering, materials science, agricultural science, plant and animal science, chemical science, environmental science/ecology, and biology and biochemistry, have entered the top 1% of the ESI global ranking.

Categories of Applicants and Duration of Scholarship

Language of Teaching

Courses for students obtaining Chinese Government Scholarship are generally taught in Chinese. All the Chinese-taught programs require at least HSK 4 certificate. For now only some of the doctoral programs can be taught in English, especially science and engineering. Students, unless their schools and supervisors provide courses taught in English, may choose to take one-year preparatory Chinese language courses before major study if they think their Chinese proficiency doesn't meet the needs for major study. Duration for scholarship could NOT be extended unless the students make written application upon unavoidable reasons. 

Deadline for Application

Applicants have to submit application documents online to the email lxs@gxu.edu.cn before 15 February, 2024. Applicants do not need to send hard copies to the university by post.

Format of the e-mail title should be "CSC + country name + applicant's full name"

Application should be submitted by the requirements above, otherwise would be rejected immediately.

Qualifications of Applicants 

1. Applicants should be in good health and non-Chinese citizen with a 10-year experience of living, studying or working in the domiciliary country.

2. Applicants should respect and observe the laws and regulations in China.

3. Education background and age limit:

- Applicants for master studies shall have bachelor’s degree and should be under the age of 35.

- Applicants for Doctorate studies shall have master’s degree and should be under the age of 40.  

4. Basic requirements for language proficiency

- Applicants for postgraduates programs (master and doctorate) taught in Chinese language should at least have past the HSK4 test before the application. 

- Applicants for programs taught in English language (some doctoral programs) shall at least have scored 6.0 in IELTS or 80 in TOEFL before the application.

1. Free charge of application fee, tuition and dorms on campus.

2. Living stipend

4. Students shall be responsible for their expenses of transportation.
