The university has a total area of about 1440 hectares and 1,700,000 square meters of floor space. Its library has a total of 8.7 million book volumes, 4.65 million digital books, 57,000 electronic periodicals, and 206 Chinese and international databases. Because the digitized library is so enormous, it serves as both an academic library and an information system, providing a wealth of paper and digital literature materials.

It began accepting international students in 1961, as one of 66 universities in China recognized by the Ministry of Education to attract international students. Guangxi University accepted 2,267 international students from 73 different countries and regions in 2019. While the number of international students grows, the university has inked cooperation and exchange agreements with 270 universities and research organizations from 48 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Japan, and Vietnam. Simultaneously, the institution has welcomed a huge number of international professionals and researchers to teach, lecture, and conduct research.

Guangxi University and Suan Dusit University collaborated to establish the Confucius Institute in Suphanburi, Thailand, in December 2006.
